Original Problem: To create a jersey design for the Tampa Bay Lightning for NHL’s ‘Hockey is For Everyone’ initiative, which celebrates the history and diversity that communities bring to the NHL. The designer is tasked to create a design that reflects their cultural heritage, core values, and personal experiences.

Solution: A design was made to illustrate the LGBTQ+ community and the diversity in it as well. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I wanted to show people coming together to watch and spend time together at a hockey game. The people are a variety of races, sizes, and even disabilities. They also have different connections to the LGBTQ+ community ranging from gender to sexual identities. Bands of color of different flags are included. The prominent ones featured are the 2017 pride flag colors, bi-sexual, lesbian, trans-gender, and pansexual. I have known people personally in these groups and they are close friends to me.
